Visual Impairment

Blindness in ferrets is not unheard of but is often either age or trauma related.

As ferrets age, they may start to develop cataracts this is often noticed by a white or slightly dull appearance of the eye. While it may cause irritation as long as the owner adjusts the animals play area they can continue to enjoy life.

Undiagnosed Insulinoma can cause nerve damage which may also lead to blindness or impairment.
